This course is to assist with the assessment and delivery of the Speaking Listening and Communication element of the Functional Skills English Qualification.Who is this for?

Functional Skills English Tutor/ Teaching Assistant / Assessor at an Open Awards Approved Centre.
There is no set duration for the course but we expect that it will take 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete.  However, you will only have 30 days to complete and achieve the course.  This 30-day limit starts from the minute you purchase the course in the eShop.   Failure to complete the training within the set time frame may incur charges for your centre.

Understand the role of the assessor in Speaking, Listening and Communicating (SLC) assessments (Functional Skills English)

  • Understand the process for assessing and quality assuring SLC assessments
  • Be able to make accurate assessment decisions about learners taking a Speaking, Listening and Communicating assessment (Functional Skills English)
  • Know how to record assessment decisions
You will achieve an attendance and participation certificate at the end of your course so as long as you achieve 80% and above in the post-course assessment.
